Be free or be me?

I wonder how it'd be
To be anywhere but here
And anyone but me

Wishing to live a life of another
To be neither a girl, a friend or a sister
Soaring the skies on a beautiful day
Hiding low when the clouds turn grey

How would you like to be a bird?
Wear beautiful feathers instead of this shirt
To chirp and tweet and sing all day
And show the world that all is gay

Lift off at will and land where you please
Friends with the wind, at one with the breeze
See the world from way up above
A beautiful sight i'm sure you'd love

To travel the world with a pair of wings
And not bother your mind with petty things
Like worry about your bed being messy
And your mom yelling for not being tidy

But then i thought and pondered again
Being a bird, well it isn't that grand
On second thought it wouldn't be nice
Feeding on worms and not on rice

There's always a downside to flying so high
Things that would make a bird sit and sigh
Like being shot down and cooked in a stew
Or being blamed for the avian flu

So i guess in the end i'd like to be me
And not a bird perching in a tree
As much as i want to fly and be free
There's no place like here and no one like me

The end.

What a day..

It's been less than 12 hours i've been away from bed but somehow my mind, body and soul wishes to be rested on a comfy mattress under a cozy piece of blanket. In other words...I WANNA GO HOME!!!!

I seldom get sick, and I rarely ever ask for an MC when I'm sick for the simple reason because I hate seeing the doctor and having them poke and prod me like checking a piece of steak to see if its done.

Sore throat, having trouble swallowing my own saliva, stuffy nose, body temperature on the rise, extremely cold temperature at the office, seeing faces of some people that i despise, pile of work to be settled before the day ends..

Yes, I wish I were home. Now. End.

Once in 4 years

Once in four years, in addition to the leap year and the Olympic Games, life brings you…the WORLD CUP!

Well, not that it excites me that much anymore but writing World Cup in bold, capital letters should do justice to highlight the event that keeps avid football fans at the edge of their seats waiting in anticipation for their favourite team to score, watching with eager discern on the players’ every move , and the cause for the apparent eye bags brandmarking them as World Cup zombies.

Sue me, but the only game I’ve watched so far was South Africa vs Mexico and that was only because I was at my bestie’s place and her brother made us all sit and watch the game with him. Not that I’m complaining though. To be fair, I did enjoy the game but I wasn’t planning on keeping my eyes glued on every match to have my football knowledge on par with that of a sports commentator.

On the other hand, the World Cup would also mean that most of the XY population, unless they are avid fans themselves would be seeing less of their husband/boyfriend/partner football junkies. Not me though. My other half just couldn’t care less who’s in the World Cup let alone sit at any of the mamak stall and join in the tribal chant supporting the teams halfway across the globe.
Lucky me. The other day we passed by a mamak eatery equipped with a gargantuan screen displaying a match and he didn’t even as much as peeked to see which team was playing!

So, i guess the XY’s would just have to wait for next month to claim back their partners’ souls from the dark lord of footbalism. As for me, i wonder what would happen if TNB decides to cut off the power supply for the whole nation when a really important match is scheduled for the night. Major catastrophe perhaps?
